What are you doing this memorial day to honor our courageous military fighters?
If you've been trucking around, make sure you exercise extra precaution, considering the doubled traffic, excess of drunken drivers, and even a fair share of strewn glass beer bottles sprinkling the road- a great and easy way to get the flat tire you dread.
Experts are advising at least a 15 minute power nap, which can charge up a lot of battery in a short while. Signaling your turn about half a block in advance will help to warn other drivers of your monster vehicles decisions and influence their extended safe-distance.
Delivering the goods to a memorial day event? Hop off that truck and join into the festivities, it doesn't have to be long, just enough time to grab a bite to eat and stretch out your legs, setting yourself in for a more comfortable continued ride ahead.
John Cudd is one example of a memorial day hero. Being a Veteran and a reason to congratulate himself on his past accomplishments for the country was not enough for him. He prepared his own way of honoring his fellow soldiers...
Cudd served as a sergeant in the Vietnam war, he enlisted in 1966 and deployed to Vietnam in 1967 as a part of the
2nd Battalion, 501st Infantry, 101st Airborne Division - also known as
the Screaming Eagles.
He is still in touch with many of his fellow soldiers and now close friends. Gathering a group together, John recruited artists with a flare for their craft, to paint his truck, the one he uses now in his second lifetime career as a big trucker.
But he didn't have them decorate it with just anything. Cudd chose to have his truck bedecked out in army colors with words and symbols that obviated the fact that he wanted his comrades honored and remembered, and some, for their martyrdom.
And on a large eagle, exquisitely painted to the back of his sleeper, are the words: "Screaming Eagle."
And if you drive down the street, and you see a truck handsomely decorated to honor memorial day, don't get too distracted. We recommend a small honk or two, but keep your eyes on the road, we don't need to create more fatalities to remember.
